For a translator, computer skills are almost as important as language skills. Proper hardware and sofware are crucial to process electronic texts in several formats and ensure that original file and translation have not only the same content but the same layout.

The processing of Chinese texts may still be a problem for graphic engineers, typographs and web designers. Knowing the language and some tips&tricks to "bend" Chinese characters to your will may be vital.
